Jenny Davy: A Profile

Jenny is the conductor of Intermediate and Senior Flute Ensembles, and plays the flute and piano.

When Jenny attended ballet lessons as a child, she spent her time staring at the piano accompanist. Since then music has become her constant companion. As a youngster she performed with Hertfordshire County Youth Wind Orchestra and Hertfordshire County Youth Orchestra on flute and piccolo. Highlights were touring Italy, Spain and Scotland, playing beguiling repertoire such as Turangalîla- Symphonie by Messaien.

Training includes BMus (Hons) at University of Sheffield, MA in Community Music at University of York and PGCE (Secondary) at Nottingham Trent University. Upon arriving in the midlands, Jenny worked at Derby Playhouse which gave her insight into the performing arts industry. Subsequently she has gained teaching experience across several schools, mainly in the classroom, but also as a peripatetic flute and piano tutor. Throughout this time she has enjoyed directing bands and choirs for young people, as well as arranging and composing. She is currently a member of Derby Hospitals Band, whose primary objective is charitable. In her spare time she loves to read and explore the Peak District with her family.
